On Saturday 14 March 2020, Newcastle Bach Choir gave their final concert, and indeed one of the final concerts by any ensemble anywhere, before lockdown restrictions were imposed. Performing George Frideric Handel’s Saul in front of a sold out and very appreciative audience, the choir certainly went out in style.

Music director Eric Cross presided over a memorable performance, featuring high calibre soloists Ruth Jenkins-Robertsson (soprano), Lawrence Zazzo (countertenor), Hugo Hymas (tenor), and Andri Bjorn Robertsson (baritone), with splendid playing from the Newcastle Baroque.
