Newcastle upon Tyne Bach Choir online concert

As part of the Newcastle Early Music Festival, we will be performing a programme showcasing the choir’s online work over the last six months during lockdown. The online concert includes a set of Christmas motets, Bach’s elaborate motet Lobet den Herrn, and the work of two later composers who were strongly influenced by Bach: Mendelssohn and MacMillan.

Richard Dering (c.1580-1630): Quem vidistis, pastores?
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750): Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden, BWV 230
Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-47): Kyrie in A major & Heilig
James MacMillan (b. 1959): O Radiant Dawn

The performance, lasting around 35 minutes, will be premiered at 1.15pm on Thursday 1st April, through Newcastle University’s YouTube channel, which can be viewed below
