Dear singers,

Although our current focus is on Elijah and the visit of our Gelsenkirchen friends, I thought I’d give you some advance news of what we’ll be doing next year.

24th November 2018, King’s Hall – Duruflé Requiem (accompanied by the new organ and a small chamber orchestra) plus a selection of short pieces for the other half of the programme. This is one of my all-time favourite works – if you don’t know it you’re in for a treat!

2nd March 2019, King’s Hall (provisional date while we check on any clashes) – back to our roots with a programme of Bach cantatas (probably including no. 180 which Eric led in a recent NEEMF workshop)

In addition to our regular concerts, we have an exciting opportunity to join forces with the Waynflete Singers, a very good choir based in Winchester. We are invited to sing Elijah with them in Winchester Cathedral on 30th March 2019 and they, in turn, will come to join us in the Sage in November 2019 to sing Elgar’s “The Kingdom”. It’s understood that not all choir members will be able to travel to Winchester next March but, for those who can, this promises to be a rewarding experience. If the prospect of a second Elijah performance affects your decision whether to hire or buy a score of Elijah, please talk to Alice at the next rehearsal. There will, of course, be scores available to hire (or maybe borrow from other choir members) for the March performance.

Our summer concert 2019 will be an “away” event but the details are yet to be firmed up.

Best wishes,
