The choir welcomes new members, in all lines - soprano, alto, tenor and bass. New members are welcome at the beginning of any of the three terms. Often new members are introduced as friends of existing choir members, but if you have no such contacts then please get in touch with the Chairman or Secretary - see Contacts- who will be happy to welcome you to a rehearsal.
All new members will have a short voice trial with Eric Cross, our conductor. This will usually take place after the first or second rehearsal and a place in the choir will be dependent on the outcome of this.
The choir rehearses on Monday evenings from 6.30 - 8.30pm and members need to be committed to attending the rehearsals. Rehearsal and concert patterns generally follow the University year - rehearsals begin in late September and continue to the middle of June with several weeks’ break for Christmas and Easter. Rehearsals take place in the Armstrong Building of Newcastle University - usually in the King’s Hall but occasionally in a nearby room if the Hall is unavailable. The entrance to the King’s Hall is on Queen Victoria Road opposite the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
